Ongoing counselling needed after terror attack - psychiatrist

From Morning Report, 6:42 am on 1 April 2019

A psychiatrist says trauma counselling will be needed for a long time yet for people affected by the Christchurch terrorist attacks. Since the attacks the 1737 National Telehealth Service helpline has been contacted more than 600 times a day and provided more than 6,800 counselling sessions - lasting on average 30 to 40 minutes. The lead psychiatrist with the National Telehealth Service, David Codyre, tells reporter Robin Martin dozens of therapists have volunteered to help handle the increase in calls.
