The Prime Minister has arrived in China for a flying visit that will include meetings today with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. A week-long trip had been planned but in the wake of the Christchurch terror attacks, it's been scaled back to 24 hours. Discussions are expected to centre on Huawei's bid to get involved in New Zealand's 5-G network, trade and regional security. But Jacinda Ardern has said she will also raise the issue of China's clampdown on its Uighur Muslim population. RNZ's political editor Jane Patterson is in Beijing.
