West Coast cleans up after landfill washes into river
The clean-up continues on the West Coast after a flooded Fox River uncovered an old landfill, washing rubbish downstream and on to kilometres of coastline. While much of the rubbish has been cleaned up by locals and tourists, there is concern for the stretches of beach not accessible by road or on foot. Residents say rain keeps washing out more rubbish and the clean-up could take weeks. The Westland District mayor Bruce Smith speaks to Susie Ferguson.
