A woman who complained about the culture of the Hamilton council two years ago says nothing has changed. Councillor James Casson is in the middle of a storm after criticising commemorations for the victims of the Christchurch mosque terror attacks. Condemnation of his remarks intensified when a post he'd made on Facebook in 2016 surfaced, in which he called for 'retribution and extreme violence to rid Europe' of Middle Eastern refugees. In 2017 journalist Angela Cuming was sent a sexually explicit joke by Hamilton councillor Mark Bunting, which sparked a disciplinary hearing.
