Crusaders' name, branding must go - Christchurch Muslim leader

From Morning Report, 6:14 am on 4 April 2019

An advocate for the Muslim community says the Crusaders' name as well as its branding needs to go. On the Christchurch-based team said it's commissioned research to help it decide whether to keep the name and the knights-in-armour merchandise and entertainment that goes with it. But in the wake of the March 15 terror attacks targeting Muslims, Crusader knights on horseback will not be part of the on field entertainment at matches in the city for at least the rest of the season. New Zealand Rugby chief executive Steve Tew says he thinks the name is no longer tenable. Community advocate Guled Mire told reporter Emma Hatton he agrees.
