'Affordable' Auckland home buyers stung by costly driveways

'Affordable home' buyers in an Auckland Special Housing Area have been charged thousands of dollars more than the ticket price for so called 'extras' like driveways - effectively pushing their homes outside of the affordable range. They bought from the developer Imperial Homes in the Scott Point development in Hobsonville. Under the SHA rules, Imperial was given fast-tracked consents in return for providing a certain number of affordable homes. But some buyers say they're struggling to pay the additional amount. RNZ Auckland issues correspondent Rowan Quinn has details.
