Tauranga schools near total capacity

Tauranga schools may be the fullest in the country after the city reached 98 percent of its official classroom capacity last year. Education Ministry figures show the schools had 24,876 children in the middle of last year, just 450 children shy of their capacity of 25,330. Nationally, schools were at 86 percent of their capacity last year, an improvement on 2015 when the figure was 89 percent. Here's our education correspondent, John Gerritsen.
