NZ gun law changes passed with full National support

From Morning Report, 6:41 am on 11 April 2019

National Party MPs crossed the house to congratulate the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, after Parliament passed the government's ban on semi-automatic weapons on Thursday night. The Arms Amendment Bill passed by 119-1 votes. Ms Ardern had promised to change gun laws immediately after 50 people were killed in the Christchurch mosque attacks on March 15 and she opened the final debate on the bill. All 55 National MPs approved the bill on its final reading. During the final debate, Judith Collins told Parliament she was proud of the way MPs from both sides of the house had worked together.
