India election: World's largest democratic vote begins

The world's largest democracy begins the 40-day process of choosing a new government. About 11 million poll workers and security officers will oversee the more than 800,000 polling stations across India as 900 million people cast their ballots. About 84 million of them will be first-time voters. Michael Safi is based in Delhi for The Guardian. He tells Susie Ferguson about some of the challanges of running an election in a country of this size.
