Solomons High Court to rule on validity of PM Sogavare's bid

Police in Solomon Islands are calling for calm after rioting broke out in the capital over the election of Manasseh Sogavare as the new prime minister. His victory was steeped in controversy and major unrest broke out in the capital Honiara shortly after his acceptance speech on the steps of parliament. Police riot squads used tear gas to disperse the more rowdy groups. The High Court in Solomon Islands is due to rule today on the validity of is initial nomination to compete for the top job. RNZ's Pacific Koroi Hawkins has been following developments.
