Lack of interest in Christchurch KiwiBuilds 'unexpected'

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 20 May 2019

Nobody has put their handup to buy into a Kiwibuild development in Canterbury - renewing calls for the scheme to be axed. Seven homes, the first of many more, in the Mike Greer development have failed to sell after being on the market since February. That means he can now trigger the taxpayer funded underwrite, to recoup any losses. The head of the Kiwibuild Unit is surprised none of the houses in a Canterbury development have sold, but says they're working on ways to get buyers interested. A Wanaka kiwibuild development has also attracted critricism for slow sales. The head of the unit, Helen O'Sullivan, told our political editor Jane Patterson the lack of of interest in the Canterbury homes is unexpected.
