Banning unsafe car imports won't improve safety, says importer

Importers of used cars say banning some models because of their low safety ratings is not the solution to improving overall vehicle safety.

RNZ has obtained a government report that suggests stopping the importing of cars with low safety ratings.

That would mean three of the five most popular used cars brought into the country would be banned.
