Massive protests continue in Hong Kong

From Morning Report, 8:51 am on 18 June 2019

Massive protests have continued in Hong Kong, with growing demands for the island's chief executive Carrie Lam to step down.

Ms Lam has postponed a proposed law that would allow Hong Kong residents to be extradited to mainland China to stand trial.

But protesters say that doesn't go far enough.

Our correspondent Patrick Fok told Morning Report producer Lucy Smith the protesters have been boosted by the release overnight of the student leader of the 2014 Umbrella Movement protests, Joshua Wong.
