Some iwi are warning Oranga Tamariki not to wheel them in to fix up their mess.
Next month, new legislation will mean the agency must work with Maori organisations.
But iwi say dealing with Oranga Tamariki is difficult and frustrating and it's going to take huge improvements before a partnership between them will work.
