An Auckland University staff member says she was silenced by senior management after raising concerns about a student with extreme far-right views, just days after the Christchurch terror attack.
The employee, who RNZ has agreed not to name, says the student, who has since left the University, sent threatening emails to staff and interrupted a tutorial to express his extreme views on immigration and colonization.
A university employee, who RNZ has agreed not to name, says when staff reported this to management they were told to keep quiet and weren't told why.
She told RNZ reporter Katie Scotcher about the incident. The University of Auckland has rejected the allegations.
A spokesperson says the matters were being investigated and staff were required to respect the confidentiality of the process. They say this is standard practice as people who are complained about have rights too.
