Trucking industry helps struggling Hawke's Bay mum become a driver

In May, RNZ ran a story about families living on the breadline and their wishlist for the upcoming Budget.

A single working mother from Flaxmere, Benny Hone, wanted the government to provide more training so parents, like her, who were struggling to get by on minimum wage, could get better paying jobs.

Ms Hone, who works full time as a night-shift forklift driver, had a dream of becoming a truck driver but couldn't afford the training.

The Budget didn't deliver her wish... but the trucking industry did.
