Hong Kong democracy activists storm political centre

From Morning Report, 6:09 am on 2 July 2019

Pro-democracy protesters stormed the Legislative Council building in Hong Kong overnight after ramming glass panels with metal trolleys to get inside.

The escalation in tensions follows a morning of clashes between hundreds of protesters and riot police, amid an ongoing political crisis over the territory's controversial extradition bill.

The protestors have since been removed from the building by riot police.

Morning Report producer Jeremy Wilkinson spoke to our correspondent in Hong Kong Patrick Fok soon after the building had been stormed.
