More complex illnesses hitting hospitals - doctors' union boss

Deficits, decaying hospital buildings and inadequate disaster preparedness are some of the problems identified in the latest Controller and Auditor General's report into District Health Boards.

Overall, the audits of 2017/2018 have revealed a worsening financial position for the boards.

Health sector manager at the Office of the Auditor General Greg Goulding says DHBs are finding it more difficult to make ends meet and it is cause for concern.
