Legal protections for LGBTQI a long time coming - Beyer

The Human Rights Commissioner Paul Hunt says it's regrettable that changes to prohibit discrimination based on gender identity and intersex status are not being actioned swiftly.

The changes are among 194 recommendations the UN has made for the country to improve its human rights performance.

The Justice Minister, Andrew Little, says he's committed to making changes but the work won't be completed until next year.
