Five months on, green shoots appear in fire-ravaged Tasman

Thousands of hectares of farms and forest in the Tasman District that were burnt in the largest wildfire in almost half a century, are only now starting to recover.

Five months on the charred remains have been felled, lawns and gardens torn up by machinery in the fire fighting effort are starting to recover, and green shoots of new growth are appearing on hillsides.

RNZ's Nelson reporter Tracy Neal went back for a look.
