Boot camps for young people set to double in size

From Morning Report, 7:36 am on 18 July 2019

The bootcamps run by the Defence Force and Ministry of Social Development will be doubled in size to 1600 students next year.

The six week long Limited Service Volunteer Programme puts young people from all walks of life in an army style environment, to teach them life and work skills.

Last month, a new $11 million facility opened at Whenuapai Airbase in Auckland to support the expansion plans. Anan Zaki visited the programme at the Burnham Military camp near Christchurch.
