VIDEO PREMIERE: Ben Woods ‘Romancy’

From RNZ Music, 10:00 am on 21 March 2019

RNZ Music is proud to present Christchurch-based songwriter Ben Woods with his new single ‘Romancy’.

‘Romancy’ is Woods’ second single, after releasing his debut ‘Losenge’ back in October.

The video is directed by Christchurch filmmaker Martin Sagadin, who’s made vids for musicians including Marlon Williams, Aldous Harding, and Tiny Ruins.

‘Romancy’ is a gushy slow burn: twice as long and stylistically very different from his high-energy fuzz-pop debut ’Lozenge’.

The video is filmed at Ruapuna Raceway, which the group says they were drawn to because of its “anti-romantic” sun-dried aesthetic, wafting with the smell of stale chip-frying oil.

Ben Woods Group has just wrapped up an extensive nationwide tour, sharing the stage with a heap of bands from around the country, including Lucy Hunter (Wet Specimen; Opposite Sex), Vincent H.L, I.E Crazy, Hamish Kilgour and LA noise-punks No Age.

‘Romancy’ and ‘Lozenge’ will appear on Woods’ full-length album, which is due out later in the year.
