RNZ Music is excited to present Estère’s new single ‘Mad About Your Sea’. It’s the second single from her upcoming album Archetypes, which she made with Massive Attack producer Stew Jackson.
Wellington-based multi-instrumentalist Estère writes songs with an anthropologist’s eye. She describes her unique blend of electronica, folk, and R&B as “electric blue witch-hop”.
Nominated for New Zealand Music Awards in the Critics Choice and Best Production categories, the multi-talented singer has also been on the judging panel for the Silver Scrolls, New Zealand’s highest songwriting honour.
‘Mad About Your Sea’ is about “being addicted to someone who is no good for you and wanting to save that person, despite the hurt that they’ve caused you.’ Estère says.
The accompanying video was filmed in Mannheim, Germany, and captures the feeling of the song through moody and textured shots.
Last year, Estère's mix of songwriting and production talent caught the attention of Massive Attack producer Stew Jackson. Together the pair have created Estère’s upcoming “future-forward throwback” album Archetypes.
‘Mad About Your Sea’ is the second single from Estère’s upcoming and highly-anticipated third album, Archetypes, to be released on 22 January 2021.
