8:10 Should New Zealand be rethinking its food supply policy?

Price hikes in food, warnings of shortages to come and now the muted feeling about the latest trade deal, should NZ be rethinking its food policy?

We export most of what we produce, we import lots of foods that we don't produce. Would life be simpler and easier if we tried to be self-sufficient? Or can we achieve the best of all worlds?

Dr Jacqueline  Rowarth, Adjunct Professor Lincoln University, is a farmer-elected Director of DairyNZ and Ravensdown and producer-appointed Director on the Board of Deer Industry NZ. She talks to Karyn about our current food policy and what could be done to make us more self sufficient without compromising our export markets.

10:06 The return of the pre-fab housing across Europe

There was a time in recent history where pre-fab housing was the answer to a temporary problem, but then quickly became a permanent solution.

After World War II in Britain, when the Luftwaffe destroyed so many of homes in bombing raids, more than 156,000 prefab homes were built under the orders of Winston Churchill.

They are now making a modern day come back across Europe. Karyn talks to Jordan Rosenhaus the CEO of UK Construction company, TopHat. They are aiming to produce one home every hour!
