A greenish week in the House

From The House , 6:55 pm on 2 June 2020

Last week in parliament, with a bit of help from extended hours and urgency, MPs managed to consider 11 separate pieces of legislation - including two that were debated through multiple stages. For details on what got time you can see the daily records here and here.

This week looks like it will have a very different shape.

The House’s timetable returns to normal and the legislative focus is much more narrow.

This week has a greenish tinge, at least metaphorically. The green of money, and also attempts to keep the environment a little bit green.

The bulk of time will be spent on debating the budget bill that was introduced on Thursday 14th May. It will get nearly eight hours of argument this week.

The other focus, the bill filling a large amount of the remaining time this week, is one aimed at changing the emissions trading scheme.
