The Panel with Mike Rehu and Jo McCarroll (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:01 pm on 17 January 2019

Topics - Research by Dr Clare George at AUT has found truck drivers are working dangerous hours to get the job done, forgoing bathroom and meal breaks. The thesis into occupational health and safety paints a grim picture of drivers under pressure. We speak to Peter Gallagher from advocacy ProDriver about how and why conditions have become this bad. Parents are left with little choice but to buy devices for their kids schooling. Ipads, laptops, and other electronic devices aren't always complusory but they are expected for children to bring to school. We ask the panelists about this added pressure on the purse. The Pope has called on parents to save their arguments for a time when the kids aren't around. He declared at a baptismal mass at the Vatican that parents should never argue in front of their kids. But is that healthy behaviour? The Panelists discuss. The Government looks set to impose a 10km/h speed limit on Lime electric scooters, following a string of accidents. The scooters can travel up to 27km/h. The panelists discuss if this will decrease interest in the popular scooters, as it wouldn't be much faster than walking.
