The Panel with Peter McKenzie and Susan Hornsby-Geluk (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:05 pm on 26 March 2019

Question of the Day: Do you have an issue with on-screen violence? Why or why not? Violence in television and films is not new, but there are concerns about it's dominance on the streaming platform Netflix - in particular, the service's seeming fixation on killers. Whether true crime or dramas, a Washington Post article says media experts are worried about the focus on stalkers and serial murderers. Victoria University senior lecturer Tim Groves explains why people enjoy gruesome tales. The digital divide still exists for older people a new study finds. Funded by Internet NZ, the study shows there are age-related gaps when it comes to digital engagement, and that when they enter residential care, information about their use of digital technologies remains largely invisible. Lead author of the study Dr Wendy Wrapson from AUT tells us what we can do to change this. Vanuatu is considering becoming the first place in the world to ban disposable nappies. It's signalled the ban will take effect in December but the nation is struggling to find an alternative, and many are questioning how the plan will be implemented.
