Agent's house on-sale may cost him licence

5:42 pm on 23 July 2016

A former real estate agent could lose his licence after onselling a house on the same day for a higher price.

The Real Estate Agents Authority wants to cancel the licence of former Barfoot and Thompson Papatoetoe agent Aaron Hughes.

The authority brought two charges of misconduct against Mr Hughes before the Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal.

Mr Hughes was charged with failing to get the best property price for his clients and for bringing the profession into disrepute.

He admitted onselling the Papatoetoe house in the same day with a 15 per cent mark up and onselling another property within a few days.

The authority was also seeking to suspend the licenses of Papatoetoe branch manager Avind Lal, as well as branch estate agent Kim Hape, for misconduct related to the onselling.
