A man has been taken to hospital after being shot in a gang-related attack in Lower Hutt.
Police said they were called to Stokes Valley just before midnight last night.
An ambulance took the man to hospital with non-life threatening injures.
Police said soon after the shooting they received a barrage of phone calls of further shots in the area but those were just fireworks.
They are maintaining a strong presence in the Stokes Valley area and are urging witnesses to come forward.
