St Clair evacuation: Surveyor observes further land movement

The residents of six Dunedin homes evacuated due to a slip look set to remain out of their homes for at least another two weeks.

The three houses in Motu St in St Clair subject to dangerous building notices issued last night after it was found they could be at risk from a potential slip behind their properties.

The houses in St Clair were evacuated last month after a half-metre-wide crack was noticed on one of the properties following heavy rainfall.

An Earthquake Commission spokesperson said surveyors were back at the site yesterday and further land movement had been observed.

Monitoring of the site will continue for at least another fortnight.

Dunedin City Council sad dangerous building notices remained in effect.
