Two New Zealand films have been selected to screen at SXSW Festival in Texas in March.

Vai, made by nine Pasifika women and filmed in seven Pacific nations, follows the life of the title character who is played by a different indigenous actress in each country.
'Vai' means water and serves as a link between each vignette, New Zealand Film Commission said.
The film's producers, Kerry Warkia and Kiel McNaughton, also made Waru which came out in 2017 and was a critical success.
The Chills: The Triumph & Tragedy of Martin Phillipps will have its world premiere at the festival, and tells the story of frontman Martin Philipps and his band The Chills.
New Zealand Film Commission said the film, directed by Julia Parnell and co-directed by Rob Curry, was an "intimate portrait" of the eccentric singer and lyricist.
The Chills will also be performing in SXSW's music festival which runs concurrently with the film festival.
SXSW runs from 8 to 16 March.
