Police said the pair were spotted driving recklessly in a stolen Mazda in Porirua on 24 January.

They said they chased the car from Porirua and onto the motorway near Johnsonville.

Police said the car eventually crashed into a streetlight in Old Hutt Road, Kaiwharawhara, then ploughed through a wooden fence and ended up close to the railway lines.

The pair have been referred to Youth Aid Services.

It's unclear how old the youths are, however youth justice involves young people between the ages of 10 and 16 years old.
