A police officer has been charged with dangerous driving after a fleeing driver incident.

The 30-year-old male police officer appeared in the Auckland District Court earlier today.

Auckland City District Commander Superintendent Karyn Malthus said the officer was charged following a review of a fleeing driver incident that allegedly happened while he was on-duty and undertaking urgent driving duties.

The officer is currently on restricted duties.
