A man is in hospital with critical injuries after a serious assault in Wairoa overnight.
The police say they were called to a medical centre on Kitchener Street about 1.15am. They had been told a man had presented with serious injuries.
The man was airlifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a critical condition.
