A woman has been seriously injured when a car fleeing from police crossed the centre line and crashed into her vehicle in Christchurch last night.
Police said they tried to pull a car over near the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Dyers Road at about 8pm yesterday.
But the car did not stop, and when the vehicle reached Ensors Road it crashed into an oncoming car.
The injured woman was taken to Christchurch hospital for treatment.
A 24-year-old man has been charged with resisting police and possessing an offensive weapon, as well as driving charges, and is due to appear in court today.
