New Zealanders are expected to bet about $1.5 million on the Cricket World Cup final tonight, making it the biggest event of the year for the TAB.

TAB bookie Mark Stafford said the biggest bet they've had on the final so far is $10,000 for a Black Caps victory, which is paying $3.35.

Someone also placed an $8000 bet prior to the semi-final when the odds were six to one.

There are also plenty of individual bets coming in, most of them on skipper Kane Williamson.

"Kane Williamson to score 50 runs is $2.10; Kane Williamson to hit eight or more boundaries is at $3 and as things get more risky, Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson to both hit six or more boundaries that's at $6."

Asked what the odds were for Guptill to score a century: "Martin Guptill to score 100 and New Zealand win the match, $9. Go Guppy," Mr Stafford said.

The final starts at 9.30pm and will screen on both Sky and free to air on Prime.
