Four teenagers are facing charges after allegedly breaking into cars in the Auckland suburb of Flat Bush overnight.

Police said residents had seen a group of offenders breaking into at least three vehicles around Amaretto Avenue at about 11pm on Tuesday.

The residents were able to provide the description and registration of the vehicle they fled in.

In a statement, Counties Manukau East Area Commander Inspector Rod Honan said the Police Eagle helicopter spotted the vehicle, which was stolen.

Police staff on the ground were then able to spike the vehicle and bring it to a stop, he said.

Four teens aged between 14 and 16 were taken into custody without further incident, Honan said.

All four are facing multiple charges of unlawfully interfering with a motor vehicle and will appear in the Manukau Youth Court.
