The duo My Bubba are two young women from Scandinavia. My Larsdotter is Swedish and plays a Norwegian cittra (lap harp) and Guðbjörg (Bubba) Tómasdóttir is from Iceland and plays guitar.

My Bubba played only two shows in Taranaki and word of mouth obviously preceded them – they had huge crowds checking then out on the Dell stage

My Bubba met in Copenhagen ten years ago when they moved into the same apartment together. They started singing, writing songs and playing open mic nights. An Italian promoter invited them to play and record an album in Italy… and so their musical journey began.

Since then they have assembled a small catalogue of albums and re-located to Ohio in USA. They have recorded with artists like Jack White from the White Stripes, Michael Hurley and producer Shahzad Ismaily.

Their repertoire is mainly original material informed by folk songs and old time traditional music from Europe and America, released on their own record label, Cash Only Records.

Their delicate and charming style has seen them build a passionate fan base and if the crowds and reception they received on the Dell stage is anything to go by, My Bubba now have an enthusiastic New Zealand following as well.
