Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister has warned of the risks in having parliament deliberate too soon on result of the Bougainville independence referendum; an Australian academic is calling for Australia to form partnership arrangements with four small Pacific states that he sees as facing prohibitive challenges; the Solomon Islands' police force has endorsed a three year gender strategy to guide its commitment to advancing the role of women within the organisation; the Cook Islands Opposition MP, Tamaiva Tuavera, says if he becomes police minister the first thing he would push for is better pay for officers.
