NZ govt urged to resolve conflicting foreign policy roles

From , 6:02 am on 1 March 2022

Investigative journalist Nicky Hager is urging the New Zealand government to stop spying on its Pacific friends.

Back in 2015, while reporting on documents leaked by Edward Snowden, Mr Hager revealed the extent of New Zealand and Australian intelligence gathering operations in the region drawing outrage from Pacific leaders.

In his latest article  "Eyes Over the Pacific" published on the website Declassified Australia a New Zealand military intelligence officer speaking on the condition of anonymity shares his views on the extensive spying that he has helped undertake.

In this first part of a three part talanoa series I am joined by investigative journalists, author Nicky Hager and the co-founder of Declassified Australia, Antony Loewenstein.
