The general secretary of the Oceania Weightlifting Federation has high hopes for the sport with rising stars lifting the bar in the games.
Seen as a father figure of the sport in the region, Paul Coffa became the first coach to make it into the weightlifting hall of fame in 2022 for his 60 years of service to weightlifting.
Mr Coffa says it was encouraging to see so many countries bringing young weightlifters to the tournament held at the Maranatha Hall in Honiara.
RNZ Pacific Editor Koroi Hawkins spoke with him shortly after the final event.
