Pasifika nurses call for more inclusive health system

From Pacific Waves

Pasifika nurses are demanding better connections with Pacific peoples from New Zealand's health system.

About 30,000 nurses, midwives and other health workers took to the streets yesterday in New Zealand... in an eight-hour strike to protest pay and working conditions.

It comes after failed negotiations in which nurses voted overwhelmingly on Monday to go ahead with the strike, rejecting a revised pay offer from district health boards.

Amongst the picketers were Pasifika nurses, who are demanding the health system create better connections with Pacific peoples.
