The first recorded battle between Māori and government troops was at Wairau at the top of the South Island in June 1843. Over the next decade, about 3,000 Māori and Pakeha lost their lives in conflicts around the country.

Mihingarangi Forbes and four experts on the New Zealand Wars look back on this turning point in New Zealand history with a mix of interviews, drama and music.
