America's Cup move to Barcelona 'a betrayal to NZ' - Jim Farmer

From Checkpoint, 5:12 pm on 30 March 2022

James Farmer QC was a Team NZ director from 2004 to 2013. He's a yachtie himself and has campaigned for the America's Cup defence to stay in New Zealand.

The decision to take the next America's Cup regatta to Barcelona is a "betrayal to New Zealand" former Team NZ director Jim Farmer told Checkpoint.

"This is an enterprise that's goes far beyond business. It's a sport, and it's one that Team New Zealand have obtained huge support from New Zealanders for a long time.

He believes there is money in New Zealand to fund Team NZ, and said he doubts there's more money for it offshore.
