The Ashburton River / Hakatere Bridge on State Highway One re-opened this afternoon after rising flood waters earlier prompted a precuationary closure.
The bridge, the river's only state highway crossing, shut at 6:00pm last night after the river exceeded a one-in-ten-year flood level.
It was damaged during floods in 2021.
