Building owners warned over quake safety obligations

A lawyer is warning building owners and employers that ignorance is no defence if ceilings and walls fall and hurt or kill people in a quake. Between half and 90 percent of the restraints on suspended ceilings, partition walls, fire sprinkler systems, airconditioning, lights and plumbing are substandard. Garth Gallaway of Chapman Tripp is warning people don't have time on their side to get these fixed.
