Public service bosses lose performance bonuses

From Morning Report, 7:20 am on 22 August 2018

Public service bosses are being stripped of their performance bonuses, just a day after the government announced a freeze on MPs' pay. Late in 2017 State Services Commissioner, Peter Hughes, announced Crown agencies were paying their chief executives too much. Up until now, public service CEOs received a bonus of up to 15 percent for "exceptional performance". The cut will reduce spending by up to $4 million by 2022 according to State Services Minister Chris Hipkins. Mr Hipkins talks to Susie Ferguson.
