A North Island council has voted to loosen the rules for gambling venues, moving away from a longstanding 'sinking lid' policy.
Public submissions on the Ōtorohanga District Council plan close on Thursday.
If the councillors fail to change the original vote, the community could see an increase in pokie machines.
