Covid-19: Calls to require negative tests to enter South Island

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 26 October 2021

A Covid-19 modeller is asking the government to consider requiring people travelling into the South Island to first provide a negative Covid-19 test.

The top of the South Island's had a Labour Weekend scare with an imported Covid-19 case from the North Island shopping at Blenheim on Friday.

The unvaccinated person flew in from Rotorua, and has links to Te Awamutu in the Waikato where there have been around a dozen community cases recently.

So far there hasn't been any onward transmission.
