Auckland Council went out with a bang in it's last meeting for the year yesterday.
Mayor Wayne Brown's throw-away comment about Auckland Airport's shares reducing in value caused an hour-long halt in share market trading.
His proposal to sell the council's share of the airport was debated alongside major funding cuts aiming to fill the council's two-hundred and ninety-five million dollar shortfall.
Councillors eventually agreed to put forward an annual budget for consultation early next year.
